Validation

Validation is the Quality Assurance process of independent review and evaluation of processes and outcomes. An effective validation is the key to quality and consistency in VET assessment and would cover the assessment resources and tools, evidence collection, decision-making, communication and recording processes etc.

Common assessment validation processes include:

• assessment networks where professional assessment issues are discussed;

• moderation, where a panel of assessors undertake a verification process;

• assessment sampling, where a sample of assessment tools/decisions are reviewed to check their validity and reliability;

• reviewing the assessment processes with third-party input from clients and industry specialists.
